Goal of Handicapping Policies<\/h3>\n

Each player has an equal and fair chance to win based upon how they play that day.<\/p>\n

From the USGA GHIN Webpage: \u201cAny USGA Handicap Index\u00ae issued through a Golf Association by a golf club is designed to allow golfers of differing abilities to compete on an equitable basis and thereby increasing the enjoyment they derive from a round of golf.\u201d<\/p>\n

Posting<\/span><\/h3>\n

You must post a score for every round you play (with certain exceptions).
\nAWAY SCORES<\/strong>
\nYou must post a score if you play golf where the season is active (even though Oregon is not posting) – in other words a score played at courses that are still in season (example: in Arizona over the winter). The easiest way to do that is to post at that course on the day you played.  All scores are sent back to your GHIN record at your local club.
\nIf a member does not post a score, the committee may post a penalty score. Multiple offenses may result in a modification of the golfer\u2019s handicap index.<\/span><\/h3>\n

SCORE POSTING<\/b><\/h4>\n

Post scores for rounds played in the Northwest from March 1 to November 30.<\/p>\n

Posting can be done on the computer located in the Pro Shop, or on-line with the USGA GHIN webpage.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

KNUTH SYSTEM <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

NOTE: The Knuth system for exceptional tournament play was implemented by the OGAPC beginning May 2015.
\nPlayers Handicap are adjusted for repeated high finishes. 
\nThe Board of Directors, in an effort to “level the playing field” in our club golf tournaments, has adopted a Tournament Point System developed by Dean Knuth, former Director of the Handicap Department of the USGA.<\/p>\n

The Knuth Tournament Point System awards points to net score finishers<\/strong> (regardless of gross score) in our club’s major tournaments. Major tournaments for the Players Club are on the monthly tournaments on the Calendar – for example, Member-Guest Championship and Club Championships. Not included are Women-Men mixers, Wednesday and Saturday cash-pot games, or event scrambles.<\/p>\n

Net Finishers for First through Fifth<\/span> in OGA PC major tournaments will be awarded points to the individual, or all of the team members, as shown in the Point Assignment Table<\/strong> shown below.  Points are accumulated over a two-year period and are recalculated before each tournament. This accumulation began with the 2015 season. The two-year window moves with each month; points are added or removed based on performance during the two-year window. <\/p>\n

Once a player accumulates 7 points<\/strong> during any two-year period<\/strong>, his handicap for a major tournamentwill be reduced by two strokes for club competitions only. For each additional 3 points accumulated, an additional 2-stroke reduction will be taken. 
\nNote: The two-year period is a moving window, so that any win or place in a club tournament prior to 2 years from the present OGAPC tournament will not affect the player’s handicap. <\/p>\n

These deductions will only be used during OGAPC tournament play<\/strong> and will not affect a player’s USGA Handicap Index issued by OGA.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Players Club Handicap and Rules Committee will randomly check members’ score posting so that no attempts to manipulate a players Handicap Index are made to make up for these adjustments. The committee believes that the Knuth Tournament Point System will make our major net results more competitive and give more players a chance to finish at the top.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
